Studies have shown that the birth control drug Yaz has a 75% greater likelihood of causing serious blood clotting when compared to similar medications, prompting The FDA to mandate a new warning to inform women of increased risks when using this drug. Blood clots caused by Yaz can develop in a woman’s arms and legs and often lead to pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thrombosis and even strokes. It’s been proven that Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella are the only oral contraceptives that contain drospirenone, a progestin which can create a dangerous medical condition known as hyperkalemia which leads to serious blood clotting.

As of October 2012, Bayer Pharmaceuticals has paid out over $500 million in settlements to women who were injured after taking Yaz. Thousands of women have already settled claims and Bayer has set aside millions more to address the nearly 12,000 cases still pending. By Bayer’s own estimates, the manufacturer anticipates over $1 billion in settlements to be paid out by the time all cases have been settled.

If you or a loved one took Yaz and suffered:

  • Stroke
  • Blood Clots
  • Pulmonary Embolism
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Death

You may be entitled to significant compensation from the manufacturer.
