metal-on-metal In 2010, the FDA ordered the recall of the widely used Johnson & Johnson DePuy hip replacement systems (ASR XL Acetabular System and Hip Resurfacing System) after it was revealed that a significant number of these devices were defective and often required a second corrective surgery to remove the DePuy product and replace it with a new device.

Metal on metal implants by design utilize both a metal ball and a metal socket and a number of these implants are now prematurely failing at unusually high rates. When a metal on metal hip device fails, this can lead to metal ions being released from the implant into the blood stream which cause a number of serious injuries, including; severe pain, infection, difficulty walking, pseudo tumors, and almost always requires revision surgery.

If you or a loved one received a Metal on Metal Hip Implant and suffered:

  • Metalosis
  • Elevated Chromium levels in blood
  • Elevated Cobalt levels in blood
  • Original hip implant was replaced
  • Original hip implant needs to be replaced

You may be entitled to significant compensation from the manufacturer.
